Stream Cleanup – You Can Help Clean up Reston’s Streams and Lakes!

Want to get involved and help clean up our local stream valley? Looking for a service project or need community service hours for school? Want to make an instant impact in improving the health of our local streams? Then participating in the Stream Clean up is for you!

Reston Multicultural Festival: Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008

The Multicultural Festival is an all-day celebration of international cultures that brings together thousands of people to dance, eat and celebrate diversity. With participation of numerous groups that are representative of our community the event will promote appreciation and respect, serving to remind all of us of the value and strength of a diverse community.

Stream Restoration Walk

Explore Reston’s watersheds and learn about the stream restoration project along Snakeden Branch. Wear shoes or boots that can get wet, long pants and bug spray. We will hike down the stream and natural area behind the Hunters Woods Village Center, observing stream characteristics and techniques used to help reduce erosion.

Space Exploration Merit Badge Program

The NRO Scouters are sponsoring the 7th annual Space Exploration Merit Badge Program on Saturday, 11 October 2008. Registration begins at 7:30 AM, with the program running from 8:00 AM until 5:00 PM. The event will be held at the National Capital Area, Camp William B. Snyder located in Haymarket, VA.
