Weed Warrior Fall Projects
Our native trees, ferns and wildflowers are under attack by invasive exotic plants like English Ivy, Japanese Honeysuckle and Bamboo. That is why we need warriors like you to join us in rescuing Reston’s beautiful parkland from these aggressive plants. These fast growing, invasive plants escape from people’s yards and seriously threaten local ecosystems, taking away vital food and habitat from already stressed wildlife populations. Please, spend a couple hours in our parkland protecting our forests every 4th Saturday of each month as we help restore Reston’s forests to their natural state.
With new RA guidelines stating that certain invasive exotic plants may not be installed or maintain on Reston Association member property, we have more support than ever in this rigorous battle. Please join us!
Long pants and long sleeves are recommended. We will provide water, work gloves and tools.
Time: 10am to noon

The Chinese Wisteria has snuck its way back to the natural area at Lake Anne Garden Plot and the United Methodist Church. We will return once more to challenge the Wisteria. Please meet at the parking lot of the Lake Anne Garden Plots off of Wiehle Avenue.

This Saturday we will attack a new location and push back the Burning Bush, Bush Honeysuckle, Mahonia and any other that might come in our way of protecting the parkland. Please park at the tennis courts off Colts Neck Rd. We will be working behind the homes of Stirrup Road.
Please let Russ Housley know if you need more information or interested in volunteering for any of these opportunities.
